Our Immediate Aspirations
|
While our band is currently reaping the rewards of 6 years of extremely hard work, we firmly believe that our journey is still only beginning, and that through strategic goals, aspirations and dreams, we will be able to further expand our project to reach new heights of success.
Our immediate aspirations include:
|
-
Raising R100,000 in donor support to help us develop a musical store room, allowing us to better protect the band’s instruments from theft (a rising problem in our community) and/or damage (due primarily to inadequate storage space).
|
-
Raising R300,000 in donor support to help us re-supply the band with all new instruments. At present, some new instruments – critical to the ongoing success of the band – have been purchased using a private loan from our Founding Trustee, who has already put himself at great financial risk through his personal support of our tours to Canada. The funds will be used to replace instruments that have been in use for several years, including our steel drums, which are so old and battered that they can no longer be re-tuned effectively (according to Anthony Caplan, our tuning service provider).
|
-
Raising R500,000 in donor support to help us conduct our third and final tour to Canada in September/October 2010. The purpose of this tour will be to offer band members ‘peer-to-peer interaction’ through high school assemblies and class attendances, but we also hope to use the tour to expand and support the already established SA – Can Pen Pal Project.

-
• Using our website and ever-expanding sphere of contacts to develop opportunities to host events for visitors to South Africa during the Fifa 2010 World Cup (11 June through 11 July 2010).
